Thoughts on Alice
The Alice I met was not the Alice I knew,
But really, what is it to you?
Of Wonderland I was curious — of the Looking-Glass not so much,
(though it had dinners and such).
I didn’t quite understand the necessity of it all,
So even as Alice down the Rabbit-hole fell,
Things didn’t go particularly well.
By the time she went through the mirror?
Well, she wasn’t really my hero.
I wonder why I decided on this book,
considering the time, that it really took.
Alice and I. Oh my!
Our relationship might be tense for always and ever,
But not necessarily in all kinds of weather.
For I do like some adaptations very much:
Movies and series and such.
The book’s concept is fine; the (odd) dreams could have been mine.
But really, I can’t seem to bother anymore,
Like I did before.
Even though the story was not able to enter my heart,
The language proved to be very smart.
Some real piece of art in a way,
But not enough, I would say.
